Splash and Shine
When was the last time you really walked in the rain?
Not rushing inside or hiding under an umbrella—but stepping out, feeling the drops on your skin, the fresh scent of wet earth.
Maybe you got caught in a sudden storm.
Maybe you chose to keep walking anyway.
Or maybe you gave into the impulse, stepping outside just to feel the rain on your face.
I’ve always loved the rain—
splashing in puddles with glee as a little girl,
feeling the air shift just before a storm—charged, alive.
The soft brush of a spring mist,
And the wild exhilaration of a sudden summer downpour, with nature’s fireworks lighting up the sky.
It’s moments like these—simple, unexpected—that remind us how alive we are.
But I also respect its power.
I’ve weathered tornadoes, hurricanes, Nor’easters—the kind that shake things up in an instant.
And we’ve all witnessed too many storms that leave devastation behind.
Nature’s power humbles me,
it reminds me how small we are—and how deeply connected to everything around us.
Yet, when the rain falls softly, it transforms:
becoming a quiet, steady presence that brings calm, clarity and a fresh breath of air. It restores.
Why walk in the rain?
It awakens your senses — the cool drops on your skin, the scent in the air, the rhythmic patter all around you.
It's freeing — for a moment, the rain washes away the weight you’ve been holding.
It’s joyful — to spin, to splash, to laugh… to feel delight for no reason at all.
And if we’re lucky, we’ll look up—rain-kissed and smiling—to a sparkling rainbow, reminding us that light and hope always return.
P.S. I still make snow angels too. Some things are worth doing
